Relationships change over time, especially after you have kids… kids take over, your relationship suffers; take heed of this simple, spot-on advice.
My top 10 things to help keep your relationship happy and healthy:
1 Talk
Communication is key in any relationship; people are not mind readers – need to express your feelings, even over the little things.
2 Date
Make time for yourselves, it doesn’t have to be a big night out, going for a coffee, and a chat is good too. You can send your little one off to a relative or friend for an hour or be like me and wait until they’re both in school (although if you wait that long you are guaranteed to be pulling your hair out.)
3 Argue
Yes, I mean it if you have something on your chest don’t hold it in, let it out, just make sure you make up afterwards.
4 Family time
It’s important to get out and do things as a family, enjoy your time together.
5 Alone time
You don’t need to be together all the time, make sure you both get time for yourself too.
6 Little things
Do little things to show you care and appreciate them in return.
7 Hugs and kisses
A kiss goodbye in the morning and a welcome home hug at night make all the difference.
8 Go to bed together
Head up to bed a little early and make time for a chat, then if you want to read a book or he wants to watch Netflix, no problem, you’re still spending a bit of time together.
9 Have sex
Yes, you are tired, and it is often the last thing on your mind but regular sex is good for your health and self-confidence.
10 Say I love you
I know you don’t need to say it but it is always nice to hear.
