Weekend Weather Forecast: Fire Up The Barbecue!

Katie Mythen-Lynch

The country is bathed in sunshine this morning following last night’s Status Yellow weather warning, but while we’re in for a good weekend, it’ll get wetter before it gets better.

According to Met Eireann, today will bring sunny spells with the odd scattered shower, mainly in northern areas, gradually becoming widespread during the day:

“Some of the showers will be heavy and prolonged in places, with a risk of thundery downpours and spot flooding, especially in Leinster and east Munster. However, some areas will have fewer showers and mainly dry conditions will develop in the north later.”

It’ll remain warm however, with maximum temperatures 16 to 19C before a rainy night.

Tomorrow, Thursday, will dawn bright and sunny spells, before turning cloudy with a risk of heavy, thundery downpours, especially in the eastern half of the country.

By Friday however it’ll be time to fill up the paddling pool again as conditions improve for another blissfully dry Saturday and Sunday.

Better get planning that barbecue…
