Anyone for a deep-fried mince pie? Eh… YES PLEASE.

Katie Mythen-Lynch

From the delightful people who brought us the deep-fried Brussels sprout, may we introduce; the battered mince pie.

The ultimate indulgence of Christmas 2015 is a traditional fruit and spice pie dipped in delicious batter and fried to a crisp, then served up with a generous helping of brandy butter and a dusting of icing sugar.

The festive delicacy is proving popular at London pop-up Sutton & Sons, who also do a mean trade in other mind-blowing indulgences including deep-fried Creme Eggs and Mars Bars.

Fancy trying it for yourself as a dessert treat this December 25? The execution is relatively simple:

Ingredients: Mince pies, 1 cup plain flour, 1 tsp baking powder, 1/2 tsp salt, 1/2 cup milk, 1/2 cup water

Method: Mix together the baking powder, flour and salt. Whisk in the milk and water until it sticks to the back of a spoon. Dip your mince pies in the mixture and deep fry for three minutes until golden.
