Nothing says summer like the sound of the ice cream van driving down the street
However, one child was left disappointed when she was scammed after paying for the treat with her hard earned pocket money.
Her mother posted on Reddit to explain the unbelievable situation.
“My kid ran outside to get an ice cream from the ice cream man. Kiddo returned a little sad. I asked what was wrong. She said ‘I asked the ice cream man for my change. He gave me this lollipop and drove off before I could say anything.”
The mum explained that her child doesn’t like lollipops, which was one thing, but that “even if she did, it wouldn’t have been a fair trade.”
Following the bizarre situation, she bought multiple boxes of ice cream and started handing the out to the local children for free.
According to her, it was a great decision for everyone involved. Nobody in the neighbourhood bought ice cream from him anymore, and her daughter made some new friends because of it.
Many of the commenters were quick to call out the ice cream man for stealing the change.
One user said: “When I was a kid me and my siblings/friends chased the ice cream man for three whole blocks. I know he saw us, but refused to stop.”
Another wrote: “The ice cream man is a rip off. I hope he learned a lesson!”
Let’s hope that he was soon replaced altogether!
