Summertime always inspires a bit of a bohemian vibe in us. For a bit of insta-coachella we like to add braids to our hairstyling arsenal.
At first I thought braiding was too much effort until I realised that they actually perfectly appeal to lazy folk like me as I can do a french plait and then basically ignore my hair for the next 24 hours. For this reason, braids are the essential mum hairstyle. They look like effort but are in fact super practical.
The classic Dutch braid:
This Dutch braid (it’s a french plait with a twist see) is a cool nod to hippy chic. It also makes for a good distraction if the rest of your hair resembles a greasy rat’s nest.
The braid hairband:
There’s something very satisfying about using your own hair to contain your unruly hair. It’s almost economical.
The pull-through braid:
This braid is a bit more involving than the average updo but it a really pretty take on the classic low bun.
The boxer braids:
These tough-girl braids will channel Million Dollar Baby but are also great for achieving easy no fuss waves.
The day to night braid:
This hardworking style, as the title suggests, will take you from low-key brunch to a proper night out in a few easy steps.
