Our 10 Absolute Favourite Picks From The Brand New Ikea Catalogue

Trine Jensen-Burke

August is kind of like Christmas for Ikea fans as this is the month when the Swedish mega-retailer releases its catalog for the upcoming year.

The excitement!

This year’s theme is “Goodbye expectations. Hello you!”and Ikea designers hopes this year’s offerings will make life easier, more comfortable and less fussy. Which all sounds pretty good to us.

The shiny new catalogue landed on our desk the other day, and having spent the best part of the last two days flicking through it, we are ready to let you in on our favourite new products.

Are you ready?

1. Gladom Tray Table

Small, simple and multi-functional, this modern-looking tray table can be placed anywhere in the home—as in, the whole table or just the tray top. Genius, or what?

As well as this lovely sage green, this table also comes in a dusty yellow colour. Oh, and the best bit? It costs €25!

2. Knotten Standing Desk

Sitting down for long stretches at a time is pretty much the worst thing you could be doing for your health, but the Knotten standing desk will take care of this for you. A take on a traditional writing desk, the Knotten has several storage spaces in different sizes, meaning you can keep your calendars, mail, keys, and even your laptop in one spot.

How much? All yours for €149.

3. Soderhamn Sofa Series

We love low, lounge-style sofas, but the problem is that these often tend to cost a pretty penny.

However, the new Soderhamn sofa series from Ikea starts at only €240 for a one-seat section, and you can pretty much pick and choose your sections to fit your space at home.

5. Ranarp Clamp Light

If you, like us, is a fan of reading actual books in bed (technology has no place being in the bedroom, guys…), the Ranarp clamp lamp (€20) is the perfect purchase.  It can be easily adjusted to aim the light where you need it most, and we love the sleep and fuss-free design too.

6. Falsterbo Wall Shelf

We are still harboring a love for industrial chic when it comes to kitchens, and the functional and sleek Falsterbo wall shelf (€90) is pretty much picture perfect in our eyes.

The shelves have a ledge to prevent objects from easily sliding off, and as a bonus, you can hang two shelves side-by-side for extra over-the-kitchen-sink storage.
