The much-loved American singer-songwriter Kris Kristofferson has donated the €50,000 proceeds of his Dublin gig last Wednesday to the ISPCC’s Childline service.
This is welcome news for anyone who recognises the amazing work that Childline provide to the children of Ireland on a daily basis.
Kristofferson had already sold out two dates at Dublin’s Olympia Theatre on Monday and Tuesday and added a third date especially to support Childline, a service which is close to his heart.
He also donated the box office takings of a Dublin gig in 2011 to the service.
Childline is a part of The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children and provides children with help twenty-four hours a day via telephone and online. The service received over 600,000 calls and contacts in 2015.
The Childline telephone service (1800 66 66 66) is available twenty-four hours a day. Children who are affected by bullying can also text ‘Talk’ and Teentext is accessible by texting ‘Bully’ to 50101 (10am – 4am).
Isn’t it so nice to see celebrities using their super powers for good?
