There’s always that one person who refuses to stand for the pregnant lady.
And to that person, we’d like to share with you a piece of our minds… but that’s for another time.
We’re trying to stay positive after hearing the news that New York City’s subway system is to introduce ‘Baby on Board’ pins for expectant mothers to help them find seats while on the move.
Following the example set in London, this is the latest procedure introduced by the subway authority to help make public transport a little easier for pregnant riders.
The pins will also be made available to elderly people and disable people in an effort to make commuters more aware of the needs of others.
“Pregnant riders, seniors and those with disabilities often need seats more than others, but their condition may not always be visible,” Ronnie Hakim, interim executive director of the subway authority said in a statement.
“We hope this campaign will help their fellow riders to be more willing to offer them a seat without having to ask a personal question first.”
The initiative follows cities like London who introduced a ‘Baby on Board’ pin for pregnant women, with over 130,000 pin given out each year.
