Let’s face it, we’ve been blessed with a mild winter. However this weekend is set to turn cold with a risk of ice and wintry showers across the country.
According to Met Éireann, tonight will see widespread showers some of which will fall as hail or sleet. Ground frost will develop in parts with snow expected in mountainous areas and icy patches on untreated surfaces.
Lowest temperatures will be between -2 and +2 degrees Celsius and it won’t get much warmer tomorrow as cold conditions are expected to continue.
Frost and ice will develop in areas with wintry showers forecast. As the day progresses, conditions will apparently become brighter with some sunny spells and top temperatures around 3 to 8 degrees Celsius.
On Saturday night the frosty conditions will return as temperatures drop to -4 or -5 degrees Celsius. Sunday will also be cold with a mixture of sunny spells and showers.
In other words, take extra care and wrap up warm!
