It’s a Doris day so batten down the hatches

Niamh Maher

Met Eireann has issued an orange status weather warning for the east of the country this morning with gusts of up to 120km expected.

A yellow warning is in place for the rest of the country until midday as Storm Doris arrives on Irish shores. Meanwhile, more than 20,000 ESB customers are without power this morning,

Large faults have been reported in counties Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Leitrim and Dublin. Some ferries between Ireland and the UK have also been cancelled due to the storm and passengers are advised to check with their operator before setting off.

Take care out there folks and watch those ‘unnecessary journeys’.
