This Dad Live-Streamed His Wife’s Labour To The World On Facebook!

Californian Dad-to-be, Fakamalo Kihe Eiki who last week treated Facebook users to a live birth has since admitted that he had in fact not intended the event to be quite so public.

The dad posted the 45 minute video on the social media platform accompanied by the caption ‘Let’s try pushing baby out’ thinking it would only be available to family and friends to view.

“I just thought it was going to my family,” he told People magazine.

Little did he realise at that point that while his family on Tonga were tuning in as his partner Sarah Dome gave birth, so too were literally thousands of others.

He realised his error when he spotted the number of views going up but decided to continue with the stream regardless.

He explained to People magazine:

“There’s a lot of negative stuff on Facebook and so I thought this would be positive. I figured as long as I kept it PG… it’s something to be happy about.”

Happily the couple welcomed a healthy baby boy called Ngagatulelei HeKelesi.

Fakamalo Kihe Eiki also addressed some of the criticism he faced regarding the video:

“I know some people are mad that it’s not private, but I’m from Tonga and years ago, we would have water births in public. I wasn’t too worried about hiding anything because our culture has done this for thousands of years.”
