Girl gives up her 6th birthday party to feed 125 homeless people

A six-year-old Chicago girl begged her mum and dad to feed the homeless instead of spending their money on throwing her a birthday party.

Armani Crews, who turned six this month, spent months begging her parents to feed her community’s homeless. Her mum, Artesha, told ABC News that her daughter chose to buy food and put together care packages instead of receiving a birthday present.

“I said, OK, we’ll make some sandwiches, to which Armani said no – I want the same thing we’d have at my birthday party”

The Crews family spent about $300 buying food to deliver to homeless people and congregation members from the family’s church also donated items to create care packages.

Generous Armani’s ‘birthday party’ was a huge success and the family fed well over one hundred people. The kindergarten student told ABC News that “it was nice to be nice.”

Mum, Artesha, said they plan to host another community meal in the near future,

“She was excited. She was happy. Everybody was being fed. One of the gentleman said he hadn’t had a hot meal in a long time.”

Aww! What a cutie.
