UPDATE: Heatwave Status: ‘On the Way’

Katie Mythen-Lynch

Don’t panic folks, the heatwave is officially on the way. Okay, so it’s been an underwhelming start, but as far as the weekend weather is concerned, things are looking up.

Met Eireann predict we’re on the home straight towards this mini heatwave we’ve been promised, when the mercury is set to shoot up to a positively balmy 21C across Ireland.

It’ll be a touch cooler in south Munster and on the east coast with moderate breezes and highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees with a risk of fog on coasts.

Sunday night will be mild and mainly dry with lowest temperatures of nine to 12 degrees and the warm weather continues into next week, kicking off with a warm, dry Monday and Tuesday with temperatures soaring up to 22 degrees for much of the country, a few showers on Wednesday and more glorious sunshine on Thursday and Friday.

Better start blowing up that paddling pool…
