Hero Kiera (10) Died After Pushing Two Toddlers To Safety

Katie Mythen-Lynch

A California ten-year-old has been hailed a hero after she died saving the lives of two toddlers.

Kiera Larsen acted quickly when she spotted a Mercedes-Benz rolling backwards towards one-year-old Adison Jenkins and two-year-old Emma Jenkins who were playing nearby, pushing both children out of the way. Tragically, the child was hit by the car herself, receiving fatal injuries,

The tragic accident happened on Monday in a driveway near Kiera’s home in Los Coches Road, California.

Alissa Jenkins, mother of the toddlers whose lives were saved by the quick-thinking youngster, told KTLA 5:

“She saved both my daughters’ lives. These are my two kids that I have and both of them could’ve been gone in an instant and she stepped in and took over and did what she knows best to do — and that’s to protect those around her.”

California Highway Patrol officer Kevin Pearlstein said: ‘A child died heroically, I mean if you think about it, she sacrificed herself for another small child.

‘We’re going to do an inspection on the vehicle, find out why this happened, find out if there was some sort of malfunction on the vehicle and go from there.’

A Go Fund Me account set up to help the family with funeral expenses has raised almost $60,000.
