While rural dwellers battled icy roads and -5C conditions in the last few days with snow in many parts of the country, this week Mother Nature has opted to give us a short respite from the Siberian cold.
Temperatures will remain around 7C today and Wednesday (dropping as low as -1C after dark), but we can expect them to become much milder, although wetter and windier, as we move towards the weekend.
Don’t pack away the scarves and gloves yet though; a Met Eireann forecaster has warned that a further cold snap could arrive in February or March.
