Keep Sketch: Russian artist carves incredible sculptures into pencil nibs

These minuscule and intricate sculptures are just the tip of the eh... pencil in terms of this guy's talent

These amazing pencil nib sculptures are so intricate it’s hard to believe they are really handmade. They were created by hugely talented Russian artist, Salavat Fidai. He painstakingly reproduces icons of popular culture like Yoda and Wall-E. His work also makes political statements, he used his work featuring war imagery with titles like Freedom, AK-47 and Skull to pay tribute to the victims of the Charlie Hebdo attacks.

Fidai’s work is proof that powerful things often come in small packages. The size and delicacy of his work are the very elements that give them impact. Fidai painstakingly reproduced Van Gogh’s Starry Night on a pumpkin seed – see the video below.

Salavat Fidai’s work can be bought at his online Etsy store. Explore more of his pieces on Instagram and Facebook.
