Man finds childhood toy in the very last place you could imagine

This will probably have parents keeping an even closer eye on those kids this evening.

Suffering with a nasty cough that refused to go away, the man sought medical attention and doctors were rather worried.

First the man was diagnosed and treated for pneumonia and subsequently told it could be a cancerous tumour that was causing the excessive coughing.

Further investigation at the Royal Preston Hospital in Preston, Lancashire showed through X-ray that the 47-year-old had in fact a small toy inside of his right lung and not a tumour which we’re sure he was relieved to hear.

Doctors performed a bronchoscopy allowing them to have a much closer look at his airways and eventually led to them removing the toy with forceps.

The report published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ) Case Reports said the man’s airway may have been able to adapt and remodel to the presence of the foreign body but that “a case in which the onset of symptoms occurs so long after initial aspiration is unheard of.”

The man recalled having fun with his Playmobile toys and believes he remembers swallowing or inhaling one of these toys around his 7th birthday.

Without a doubt, he must be delighted to have finally gotten rid of that awful cough, and things probably got a bit sentimental too!
