The child’s parents have been slated over the gift they bought for their little girl

Trying to find the perfect Christmas present for your child is no easy feat.

There are so many options out there and the kids change their minds every five minutes.

And then there’s the sheer cost to worry about too.

It’s a magical time of the year, but it’s also a pricey one.

We all try our best, no matter what circumstances we’re in, to make Christmas as magical as possible for our children.

However, one dad has been slated over the present he chose for her two-year-old daughter, but is it really that bad?

The dad took to Reddit to express his shock over people’s reactions to the gift.

He explained to Reddit that they bought their little girl a toy vacuum for Christmas because their toddler is obsessed with cleaning.

The dad stressed that it has nothing to do with gender stereotypes but people said the toy isn’t good enough.

He wrote, “Our neighbors have twins her age, and we hang out with them often. Whenever we go to their house our daughter is obsessed with this play cleaning set they have.”

Their little girl is always playing with the toy broom and dustpan.

Her parents said she is always pretending to clean and felt this gift would be perfect.

However, some people were not as impressed.

“We were talking with some family about Christmas gifts and mentioned the vacuum. One person was put off by this. Saying it’s a bad gift to buy her because A it’s not educational and B it’s reinforcing gender stereotypes.”

“Our daughter has a ton of books, puzzles, and developmental/educational toys. I don’t feel like everything has to be in that category. Can’t kids have toys that are just fun? Not to mention that playing pretend is developmental in its own way.”

Her parents believe people are reading into it too much, but couldn’t help but feel irritated by the comment.

“Like we are going to sit her down on Christmas morning and say “You’re a girl so you better learn your way around a vacuum. And if you play your cards right maybe next year you can get an ironing board!” they quipped.

Many parents agreed that the family member was reading into it too much and stressed that the gift is a great idea.

Her parents are buying her a Christmas gift she will love and isn’t that what matters most?
