Two years ago doctors at Akron Children’s Hospital twins Jenna and Jillian Thistlethwaite were delivered via c-section HOLDING HANDS.
Mum, Sarah had endured a difficult pregnancy and had spent the 57 days prior to the girls’ birth on bed rest. When the babies were delivered, the mum described how the delivery room went completely quiet. The doctor, Melissa Mancuso, reportedly gasped and announced, “Oh my gosh! They’re holding hands!”

“My heart just melted,” Thistlethwaite told PEOPLE in an article published this week.
“Even my husband got tears in his eyes – I don’t know that anybody in the room had a dry eye.”
And that’s not even the most extraordinary part of the story. The girls, it was discovered at the 19-week scan, were the rarest type of twins – known as mono mono twins or monoamniotic, meaning that they shared the amniotic sac, this meant that there was a risk that the babies’ umbilical cords could potentially become entwined and possibly affect their blood supply.
With the pregnancy being so high-risk, Sarah a teacher from Ohio who is also mum to Jaxon who was just one-year-old at the time was admitted to hospital where she was monitored right up until the birth.
Of the birth, the brave mum said:
“Everything went perfectly. It was the most amazing and beautiful moment.”
Now Jenna and Jillian are two-years-old and as close as ever.

“If one twin is crying, the other will try to find a way to comfort her, like going to find a pacifier or rubbing the other’s back or offering a hug, They always take care of each other.”
“If Jenna does something bad, I’ll ask her about it, and she’ll say, ‘No, Jillian did it!’,” says Sarah. “But they look so much alike that sometimes I really can’t tell which one of them is in trouble.”
