The young child was seriously injured in a road accident nine days ago
A six-year-old girl has sadly passed away following a road accident in Co. Westmeath.
The young child was involved in a single vehicle collision on February 8th, but was being treated in Temple Street Hospital.
However, six-year-old Hannah Meshkat sadly died in hospital on Saturday, February 17th.
Her father, aged in his 40s, and nine-year-old brother were also travelling in the car but escaped with minor physical injuries.
The young girl has been in Temple Street Hospital since the February 8th accident. She was being treated for “catastrophic” injuries, according to The Irish Mirror.
According to The Independent, she and her family are reportedly from the Galway area.
Tributes have been pouring in ever since news of her death broke.
Following Hannah’s untimely passing, Gardaí in Mullingar are urging witnesses to come forward.
They are investigating the February 8th road accident, but are asking witnesses, especially those with dash-cam footage to come forward.
They stated: “A six-year-old girl, who was a passenger in the car and suffered serious injuries, was pronounced deceased at Children’s Health Ireland at Temple Street.”
Gardaí confirmed Hannah passed away in the hospital on Saturday, February 17th.
“The Coroner has been notified, and arrangements are being made for a post-mortem examination.”
“Two other occupants in the car at the time, a man in his 40s and a boy aged 9 years, escaped serious injuries.”
Those with dash-cam footage from the M6 between Junction 3 and Junction 4 at around 4 pm on February 8th are asked to come forward.
