Last week, we held a beautiful breakfast at The Westbury Hotel to raise awareness for Cheerios Childline Breakfast Week, Monday 17th – Sunday 23rd October,
We invited readers and HerFamily.ie aficionados to help spread the word for this incredibly worthwhile campaign. Along with our team and a host of well-known media faces and Childline volunteers, we came, we drank tea, we ate Cheerios-topped muffins, and most importantly, we talked about the incredible work the volunteers at the Childline call centre do.
Samantha Mumba spoke about the significance of the ISPCC Childine charity to her, and well-known sleep guru Niamh O’Reilly spoke about how easy it is to become a volunteer, and how it has impacted her life. Finally, we heard Louise Friel; a long-standing Childline volunteer speak about the reality of the calls they receive on a daily basis.
Last year, 421,000 calls were made to the call centre in Ireland.
7,048 were about bullying
33,267 were abuse calls
12,324 were mental health calls
On average, that is 480 calls every night….
We gave away some brilliant prizes too – a year’s supply of Nestlé cereals, a night away at the stunning Castleknock Hotel & Country Club, and four stunning little dresses from our new fave Irish clothing line, little larks.
If you missed the event, you can watch it here, we hope it will inspire you to spread the work to friends, colleagues, relations to donate, just text RISE To 50300 to donate €4. Keyword texts cost €4. ISPCC will receive a minimum of €3.25. Service Provider LIKE CHARITY. Helpline 076 6805878
