This Little Girl Cutting Her Hair Off Is Basically Our Spirit Animal

Trine Jensen-Burke

Sure, we have all been here. You wake up in the morning, look in the mirror and think: “Wow, I need to change things up a little.”

But a word of advice, ladies, maybe don’t be so quick to grab the bull by the horns in regards to your hair hair, because, when it comes to tinkering with your looks, be aware that things can escalate quickly.

Which is exactly what happened when five-year-old Aubrey Arnold, mid giving herself a make-over with her granny’s make-up, decided that her hair could also do with a new look – and picked up a pair of scissors.

“She asked me to set my tablet up because she likes to video herself,” Aubrey’s grandmothers tells ABC News. “She watches lots of makeup tutorials online. She’ll do dances, she’s videotaped herself being a school teacher, all kinds of imaginative things.”

So with the camera on and what appears to be chocolate smeared all over her mouth, (because, of course) little Aubrey went to work. And dang, does she like cutting hair.

What happens next is like a recipe for Internet stardom.

With a concentrated look on her face, Aubrey takes snip after snip, leaving her fringe, well, pretty much non-existent. Does she seem to give a toss? Not. One. Bit. Aubrey, the cool cookie, looks calm and poised, like she knows what she’s doing, which is what all of us have looked like when we’ve tried to cut our own bangs. It always seems like a good idea. It seems like it can’t be that hard. It’s just hair. It’s just a straight line.

Is this how you started, EmmaLee Wolf ?

But yeah, we have all been here. It’s just that for the rest of us, we didn’t videotape it and make 17 million people watch our hair-ific adventures. Go Aubrey.
