If You Want To Build A Snowman, This Is The Best Time To Do It This Week

Katie Mythen-Lynch

It’s a little late for a white Christmas, but there might an opportunity for a snowball fight yet.

As freezing conditions sweep Europe, Met Éireann is forecasting that snow will become increasingly likely here as the week wears on. Snow and sleet are likely to begin on Wednesday and continue through the next 24 hours.

On Thursday, “the highest risk of snow will be in the morning and during the evening and night,” which is an elaborate way of saying “pretty much the whole day.”

The winter weather is also likely to continue into Friday, but the snow will be joined by more sleet and rain — meaning that it’s unlikely to stick.

There’s also the possibility that it’ll still be snowing by Saturday and Sunday next week. Fingers crossed we get enough for at least one snowman.

In typical Irish fashion, there will also be sunny spells on Monday and Wednesday, but it’s likely to stay cold throughout the week.
