Let’s get silly.
Summer is the perfect time to kick back, let your hair down and enjoy spending time with the family. It’s also the perfect time to relive your own childhood.
Here’s our list of five family activities that will release your inner child.
1. Go to 98FM’s Big Slide Home with HB ice cream
You may have heard about the giant 260ft slide coming to Dublin this summer. It sounds like the ultimate day out for little kids and big kids alike.
The event which is happening on Winetavern Street beside Christchurch Cathedral will take place on Saturday the 23rd July and Sunday 24th July.
To take part all you need to do is head over to HB’s Facebook page to nab a wristband. Band holders will win two free slides within a two hour period.
There will be changing facilities on site as well as well as a ‘Snap a Soakie’ station where you can upload your selfie to social media. Ideal!
The allocated times will be between 12pm-6pm on Saturday and 12.30-6.30 on Sunday. You can read the full rules and regulations for the event here.

2. Visit Imaginosity
Imaginosity is Ireland’s only interactive children’s museum for under 9’s, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that it’s a place only the kids will enjoy. With numerous arts and crafts, theatre and music workshops it’s a fun day out that the whole family will love. You can pre-book your ticket online here.
3. Try your hand at crazy golf
Bring out your inner athlete and try your hand at some Crazy Golf. If you’re living in Dublin the Rainforest Crazy Golf in Dundrum is the perfect day out for both you and the kids. There are loads of other crazy golf centres around the country as well so grab a club and get putting.
4. Camp out
Camping out was something we all wanted to do when we were younger. Pitch up a tent in your back garden and get a BBQ ready to toast some marshmallows. If you don’t have any outdoor space it’s still just as much fun (if not more) to pitch up a tent or fort indoors. It also saves the hassle of trekking in and out of the house every time you need the loo.
5.Take a trip to the zoo
Dublin zoo will always be a firm family favourite. Relive some of your favourite childhood memories and spend the day at one of Ireland’s best tourist attractions. With over 400 animals and lots of talks and demonstrations, you will have plenty to see and do while you’re there.
