"It was pretty amazing and humbling to see."

Colin Farrell has opened up about one the biggest and most “humbling” moments of his life.

The Dubliner, who is currently starring in the Killing of a Sacred Deer as a dad given a horrifying choice, opened up about one of his favourite stories from his real life as a dad.

The dad of two said it was “pretty amazing” to be able to see his son James take his first steps.

He told People

“When James took his first steps a couple weeks short of his fourth birthday, because he has special needs…

“Seeing the amount of work that went into [it], it was pretty amazing and humbling to see.”

James, the actor’s firstborn son, turns 14 years old next week.

He has a rare genetic disorder called Angolan syndrome, which among other symptoms, causes motor and developmental disabilities.

And the proud dad told how while any child taking their first steps is a celebratory occasion, it especially moved him knowing his son had worked so hard to hit the milestone.

The Lobster star added:

“People talk about the children taking the first step, it’s obviously a monumental moment and it’s been represented in film.

“But to be told your child may never take the first step and then see those first steps is just kind of a different sport all together.”
