Mum hides Elf on the Shelf so she can move it later, it goes hilariously wrong

Oh dear.

Keeley Ryan

She’s “phoning the North Pole” for help.

It’s almost the end of December, and many of us would (pretty happily) tuck the Elf on the Shelf away for another year.

It has been weeks upon weeks of having to scour Pinterest and wracking our brains to find creative ideas to hide Santa’s seasonal spy.

That’s if we remember to move him at all, though.

One mum’s misadventure with her Elf on the Shelf has been uniting parents across the globe – and it’s easy to see why.

Brittany Mease admitted that she “can’t stand” the tradition, but that she’s done it every year for the last five years to see the smiles on her kids’ faces.

At the start of the month she came up with a “mum win”, telling her kids that Elfis the Elf had broken his leg and was put on bedrest for two weeks by Doc McStuffins – and he would be staying in the same place the whole time.

The mum-of-two in a post on the Love What Matters Facebook page:

“I just got a free pass to not worry about moving that creepy guy for two weeks! Heck yeah.”

And once the two weeks passed, Brittany forgot to move Elfis to his new spot – but her eagle-eyed little ones didn’t forget.

So, when they weren’t looking, Brittany decided to toss Santa’s seasonal spy into the oven until she had time to move him and not raise any suspicion.

She ended up forgetting about the plan and turned on the oven to cook up lunch – which is when she smelt something “really funky.”

The Facebook post continued:

“I preheated the oven and started cleaning the kitchen. About four minutes later, I started to smell something REALLY funky; and that’s when all hell broke loose, and I broke my son’s heart…”

Mid-conversation with one of her friends, Brittany realised that poor Elfis had been left in the oven – and that’s when Gray, her son, came into the kitchen thinking the magical Christmas character had returned.

She added:

“His world fell apart as we were using kitchen utensils to get our burnt and melting elf, out of the oven.”

Elfis’ feet completely melted off after the kitchen mishap, with Brittany adding that his head popped off from being too hot once they got him out of the kitchen.

The mum-of-two, who confessed to having a second Elf on a Shelf (just in case), said that she ended up spending the day “phoning the North Pole” in front of her little ones to ask Santa to come help Elfis.
