Omerta Hickey’s definitive guide to breastfeeding is the stuff of Internet legend.
Sadly, after some pretty extensive web-sleuthing we found another title from the Omerta Hickey oeuvre: Anal Candling for Health and Pleasure with the tag-line “a light at the end of your tunnel” and have deduced that sadly these books may be a joke.
We’re disappointed as we reckon there is definitely a market for some straight-talking no sugar-coating voice in the modern breastfeeding debate.
Especially during the craze for breastfeeding glamour shots like this one posted to Instagram last year by the Victoria’s Secret Angel Doutzen Kroes. The image is from a gorgeous Vogue photo shoot that shows her nursing her son in a painfully perfect-looking ‘family bed’.
We know it’s beautiful and we guess that they are doing their bit for promoting breastfeeding but really, who looks like this? For once I’d like to see Heidi Klum or one of her cohorts Instagramming themselves nursing through a particularly aggressive bout of mastitis or squirting milk on to a nearby stranger or close relative when the baby pops off unexpectedly. How about a shot of Miranda Kerr hooked up to a double breast pump.
