They are one of our favourite celebrity couples, and now it seems we have yet another reasons to swoon over the parenting duo that is Mila Kunis and Ashton Kutcher.
And as the Kunis-Kutchers are preparing for the arrival of their baby #2 later this year, Mila has been pretty vocal about many aspects of parenthood, from her opinionated take on breastfeeding in public (go Mila!) to their decision to keep 22-month-old Wyatt almost completely about out the public eye.
In fact, the former That ’70s Show co-stars’ parenting methods are, in many ways, refreshingly traditional for a celebrity couple.
Recently, the expectant-mama-of-almost-two shared her thoughts on raising down-to-earth children on Australian radio podcast The Kyle and Jackie O Show.
It seems one of the most important things to Kunis and her husband, is to raise children who are not spoiled brats, despite their Hollywood upbringing, but who will grow up to know the value of things.
“The one topic of conversation we had even prior to ever having kids was always, ‘How do you raise a child to not be an a**hole?'” Kunis said. “It’s so important because we both came from pretty solid poverty backgrounds and grew up very poor and are very much self-made and are very aware of what a dollar is worth,” she adds. “Nothing’s been handed to us.”
The actress also reflected on her childhood memories of eating ketchup soup, knowing full well that her children will never know what that sort of struggle is like—something she sees as an immense blessing as well as a parenting challenge. “It’s a matter of teaching them from a very early age that, you know, ‘Mommy and Daddy may have a dollar, but you’re poor.'”
Seems like this is one famous mama with her feet still firmly on the ground, if you ask us.
