Ah, god.
Choosing a name for your child is hard.
It just is. Sometimes the perfect name just comes to you, and other times it doesn’t.
In the case of journalist Shona Sibary, it didn’t and she ended up changing her daughter’s name an impressive four times before she landed on something that she was happy with.
Speaking on This Morning today, the mum-of-four said that a combination of “heartburn and hormones” made her change her daughter’s name from Dolly to Delphine to Dorothy… and back to Dolly again.
Yeah, we know.
She explained:
“I’m not sure, when you’re up to your eyes in heartburn and hormones, it’s the best time to make such a monumental choice in life.
“When I go to doctor’s surgery I can’t remember if it’s Dolly or Delphine, it’s confusing.”
Shona said that she would change her daughter’s name right up until she started school, admitting that she simply couldn’t settle on something.
Viewers were not that impressed with her indecisiveness – or the fact that she said she sometimes forgets her daughter’s name – but we have to say, we sort of understand.
If you’re looking after four kids while working, the odd time, things will just slip your mind.
It happens to the best of us – and yeah OK, it happening when it’s your daughter’s name isn’t the greatest thing in the world, but it does happen.
No judgements here, tbh.
