Eating Too Much Red Meat Could Increase Your “Biological Age”

HerFamily

Do you like a nice fillet steak? Or maybe you can’t get enough spaghetti Bolognese. Either way, you might want to rethink just how much red meat you consume.

According to The Guardian, a new study has found that eating too much red meat, combined with not getting enough fruit and veg, can increase your “biological clock” and potentially cause health problems.

Researchers found that the consumption of red meat leads to a moderate increase in levels of serum phosphate. If this is accompanied by a poor diet, it can increase your biological age (in other words, it can age you).

The study was conducted by a team of scientists at the University of Glasgow and involves participants from the least and most deprived areas in the vicinity.
